Why Nurtura
Your doctors stabilize the condition. Physical therapy rebuilds the strength, balance and endurance to live fully with it.
Many older adults leave the hospital medically stable but physically weaker than before. Others notice the change gradually. Stairs feel steep. Fall risk increases. Walking to the mailbox is tiring. Activity feels uncertain.
Nurtura addresses the functional side of health: after a cardiac event, after surgery, or as part of aging well at home. Our physical therapists work alongside your cardiologist, surgeon or primary care physician, focused on one thing: getting your health aligned for the life you want.
Nurtura does not replace your physicians or medically supervised cardiac rehabilitation.
“As a physical therapist, I understood the importance of recovery. As a daughter, I understood how uncertain it could feel.”
Two programs, built around how you actually live.
For adults 65 and older, and the families who care for them. Both programs begin with a licensed physical therapist's evaluation and a plan set around your goals, your home and your medical team's guidance.
Cardiac Functional Recovery
For older adults who were independent before a heart event and now find everyday movement harder than it used to be. We work alongside your cardiologist and cardiac rehab program.

For older adults who want to stay strong, steady and independent at home, whether preventing decline, recovering after surgery, or regaining confidence after a fall.

- Mobility & Strength Training
- Home Safety & Independence
All patients complete clinical screening before enrollment. Physician clearance is not required for enrolling in PT or starting care. Nurtura clinicians will coordinate with cardiac and post-surgical teams to ensure physician & surgeon protocols are followed. Virtual physical therapy is not appropriate for everyone.
Three steps from first call to functional independence.
Two minutes online or one phone call. A physical therapist calls you back within a business day, reviews your situation and coordinates clearance with your cardiologist or physician.
A licensed PT measures strength, walking, balance, transfers and stairs, learns your goals, and builds a progressive program delivered by video from home, with in-person visits in the Bay Area when needed.
Stairs, errands, family events, the dog. We measure progress against what matters to you.
Virtual-first. In person when it matters.
Most care happens by video from your own home, anywhere in California. When an in-person evaluation, a home-safety visit or hands-on care is clinically indicated, a Nurtura physical therapist comes to you in the Bay Area.
Virtual sessions
Progressive sessions from home, anywhere in California. No driving, no waiting room, and a family member can join from anywhere.
Bay Area home visits
In-person evaluations, home-safety assessments and hands-on care in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area, based on availability.
Your care team in the loop
We coordinate with your cardiologist, surgeon or primary care physician, and keep your family informed throughout.

Worried about a parent?
Sometimes the first signs are subtle. Mom has stopped walking outside. Dad doesn't go upstairs anymore. They're holding onto furniture, or declining invitations because walking feels difficult.
Nurtura can evaluate the physical factors affecting your parent's independence and build a plan to help them move more safely and confidently. You can start the conversation on their behalf, and stay involved throughout.
Ready to take the next step, for yourself or someone you love?
Answer a few questions or call us. Either way, a Nurtura physical therapist will talk with you about which program is the right fit, answer your family’s questions, and coordinate with your doctor if it is.
